A cyber virus hit unsuspecting users and demands bitcoins to recover their files.
This week a virus, usually deployed from your website email when you open a word file and enable macros to read the supposed invoice, attacked many unsuspected users encrypting their files and asking for bitcoins in exchange for a key to decrypt files . If you get that type of email, do not enable macros unless you have a great backup and are willing to spend lot of time to re-install your files. Do not become victim of this cyber attack like I did. Usually I used to backup my files often but for some reason I have not done so for a year, I was going to do it last month but did not, and now I have to live with the consequences of losing all my 2015 and part of 2016 work.
The demand looks like this…
and encrypted files look like this…
Don’t open invoices from unknown sources, if you do out of curiosity like I did… at least don’t enable the macros on it, like I did. I just can’t believe I felt for it!
